Stability Issues on Perovskite Solar Cells

Organo lead halide perovskite materials like methylammonium lead iodide (CH3NH3PbI3) and formamidinium lead iodide (HC(NH2)2PbI3) show superb opto-electronic properties. Based on these perovskite light absorbers, power conversion efficiencies of the perovskite solar cells employing hole transporting layers have increased from 9.7% to 20.1% within just three years. Thus, it is apparent that pero...

Improved air stability of perovskite solar cells via solution-processed metal oxide transport layers.

Lead halide perovskite solar cells have recently attracted tremendous attention because of their excellent photovoltaic efficiencies. However, the poor stability of both the perovskite material and the charge transport layers has so far prevented the fabrication of devices that can withstand sustained operation under normal conditions. Here, we report a solution-processed lead halide perovskite...

Fast Crystallization and Improved Stability of Perovskite Solar Cells with Zn2SnO4 Electron Transporting Layer: Interface Matters.

Here we report that mesoporous ternary oxide Zn2SnO4 can significantly promotes the crystallization of hybrid perovskite layers and serves as an efficient electron transporting material in perovskite solar cells. Such devices exhibit an energy conversion efficiency of 13.34%, which is even higher than that achieved with the commonly used TiO2 in the similar experimental conditions (9.1%). Simpl...

Evidence for ion migration in hybrid perovskite solar cells with minimal hysteresis

Ion migration has been proposed as a possible cause of photovoltaic current-voltage hysteresis in hybrid perovskite solar cells. A major objection to this hypothesis is that hysteresis can be reduced by changing the interfacial contact materials; however, this is unlikely to significantly influence the behaviour of mobile ionic charge within the perovskite phase. Here, we show that the primary ...

A hydrophobic hole transporting oligothiophene for planar perovskite solar cells with improved stability.

An oligothiophene derivative named DR3TBDTT with high hydrophobicity was synthesized and functioned as the hole transporting material without an ion additive. 8.8% of power conversion efficiency was obtained for CH3NH3PbI3-xClx based planar solar cells with improved stability, compared to devices using Li-TFSI doped spiro-MeOTAD.
